Polarised lenses can be tested by using a known polarising lens (from another, known, pair of Polaroids), Put one lens in front of the other and look through both lenses at the same time, Rotate one lens relative to the other around an axis perpendicular to both lenses, and you should see your view through the lenses change from clear to dark or vice versa as each lens polarises the light going through it. Theoretically, each lens should cut out all light going through it except for eye frame kept them nice and safe.
