Lufthansa is set to introduce a new nonstop service between Frankfurt and Kuala Lumpur starting October 25, 2026, expanding its presence in Southeast Asia. The route will operate five times a week throughout the year, with flights scheduled daily except Tuesdays and Thursdays. Bookings for the service are already open.
Flight LH704 will depart Frankfurt at 9:30 pm and arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 4:40 pm local time the following day. The return service, LH705, will leave Kuala Lumpur at 11:55 pm and reach Frankfurt at 6:00 am the next morning. The flight timings are designed to connect smoothly with the airline’s wider international network operating out of Frankfurt and offer travellers ideal connection possibilities.
The route will be operated using the airline’s new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, which is among the most modern planes in its fleet. The aircraft features 287 seats across three travel classes and includes the airline’s latest Allegris cabin interior.
Jens Ritter, CEO Lufthansa Airlines, said: "With the new nonstop connection to Kuala Lumpur and the deployment of our state-of-the-art Dreamliner, we are creating ideal conditions to participate in the growth in Southeast Asia. The innovative Allegris cabin offers our guests the highest level of comfort and underscores our premium aspiration to offer both leisure and business travellers a first-class travel experience."
Malaysia attracts growing tourism and business travel
Malaysia continues to draw strong interest from both leisure and business travellers. In 2025, the country welcomed 42.2 million visitors, making it the most visited destination in Southeast Asia. Its cultural diversity, natural landscapes, and historical sites remain key attractions for international tourists.
The country is also considered an important economic partner for Germany. It is Germany’s largest trading partner within the European Union in the region, and more than 700 German companies operate in Malaysia.
From the Lufthansa Group’s core markets—Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, and Italy—Lufthansa will be the only airline offering nonstop flights to Malaysia. With the addition of Kuala Lumpur, the airline’s Southeast Asian network will include four destinations: Bangkok, Singapore, Phuket, and Kuala Lumpur.
