Principal Chief Commissioner inaugurates new Aayakar Seva Kendra for 24 Parganas (North)
Kolkata, Mar 17 (NITN) The Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax for West Bengal and Sikkim, Anil Kumar Singh, on Thursday inaugurated an Aayakar Seva Kendra (ASK) at Uttarapan, CIT Market, Maniktala Civic Centre, Kolkata, for the benefit of both existing and new taxpayers of North 24 Parganas district.

Also present on the occasion were Ashis Verma, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, and P. B. Pramanik, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax.

The purpose of the Aayakar Seva Kendra (ASK) is to help existing and new taxpayers in filing their Income Tax returns, filing of any letter/application relating to income tax matters and to assist new taxpayers with regard to any problem relating to income tax matters ‘under one roof’. The objective of setting up this Kendra is to extend wholehearted ‘seva’ or services to all tax payers so that “Cost of Compliance” to a taxpayer can be brought down to nil. All queries regarding income tax will be answered here.

The Aayakar Seva Kendra (ASK) is also for the benefit of the existing and new taxpayers who can deposit their income tax returns for the assessment year 2014-15 and the assessment year 2015-16 till Mar 31, 2016. Though the scheduled date for payment of advance tax was Mar 15, 2016, taxpayers may still pay their advance taxes till Mar 31, 2016.

This being so, all the taxpayers who have not as yet paid their taxes for the current year, or not filed the return for assessment year 2014-15 or the assessment year 2015-16, can pay their taxes and also file the pending returns by Mar 31, 2016.
