Kolkata is set to host a grand spiritual gathering as the “Shri Jagannath Vishwashanti Mahayagya” will be held from April 17 to 19, 2026, at FD Block Ground in Salt Lake.

The event is being organised by the Shri Jagannath Darshan Charitable Trust and Sri Rajadhiraj Jagannath Charitable Trust, along with the Jagannath Parivar from Puri.

Aimed at promoting peace, unity, and devotion, the event is expected to draw between 5 to 10 lakh devotees over three days, making it one of the largest spiritual congregations in eastern India.

For the first time in West Bengal, devotees will witness the sacred 32 Besa Darshan of Lord Jagannath — a rare and significant spiritual experience.

The Mahayagya will feature 151 kunds (holy fire pits), where prayers will be offered for global peace and human well-being. Devotees will also participate in Vedic rituals, cultural programmes, and devotional music.

The sacred Mahaprasad of Lord Jagannath will be prepared and distributed among all attendees.

Speaking on the occasion, Head Daitapati Bhabani Prasad Das Maharaj said, “Lord Jagannath resides in the hearts of all. This Mahayagya is a call for peace and togetherness. Through this event, we aim to spread the message of love, unity, and spiritual awakening.”

Beyond rituals, the event will also support social initiatives such as seva activities, cow protection, temple development, and healthcare services.

Organisers are conducting outreach through media and public programmes and aim to connect with 5 to 6 crore people across the country.

The Shri Jagannath Vishwashanti Mahayagya is expected to be a landmark event for Kolkata, strengthening the city’s spiritual and cultural identity while bringing people together in faith and devotion.
