Madrid/UNI: Spain's Health Ministry on Monday confirmed that Fernando Simon, the director of the Health Ministry's Center for Health Emergencies, has tested positive for the coronavirus after showing symptoms on Sunday evening and is now self-isolated at home.
The number of people testing positive in Spain rose to 85,195, as 6,398 more people were tested positive for COVID-19 in past 24 hours.
Spain remains one of the worst-hit countries in the world with several COVID 19 cases reported from it.
The disease, which is believed to have first emerged from China, has now touched several countries across the globe.
