Lord of the Drinks, Kolkata, is the 11th outlet of this largest restaurant chain of India. It sports the tallest bar in the City and is located on the fourth floor of the South City Mall.
The 40 ft. double-height bar has an upper frame for the bartenders with over a whopping stack of 800 bottles, and the lower platform is for the public to enjoy their time. Captivating music, signature cocktails and classy décor—16 chandeliers and 22 lion heads adding to its royal feel, Lord of the Drinks showcases a strong neo-classical and neo-modern influences.
Revolutionising the very essence of nightlife in Kolkata, Lord of the Drinks is a huge shift from the usual resto-bars in town due to the subtle play of levels and heights, sprawling space ( 3,850 sq. ft.) with seating for 100 persons, use of motifs, superb lighting, a fantastic use of colour schemes where a touch of gold is complemented by subtle green and cherry and its unique collection of chairs. It spoils you with its lavish settings.

This New Year, soak in the spirit of sholoana Bangaliana with Lord of the Drinks as they present to you their ‘Bengali Food Fest’ for the most awaited festival of the Bengalis—Poila Boishakh.
The restaurant is best known for its incredible list of fusion gourmet food and its specially handcrafted cocktails. Underlining the Bengali theme, the upcoming Poila Boishakh menu has included quite a few classic Bengali dishes with a twist in taste that will take the feast to a whole new level.
Bengali’s favourite Kosha Mangsho is a winner more so as it gets paired with to Basanti Pulao. Fish finds prominence too with Bhetki Paturi, Kasundi Marinated Fried Fish (fish marinated in homemade mustard sauce, coated in panko breadcrumbs, and then fried and served with shorshe mayo and laccha doi onion).
Must try Kucho Chingri Cheese Churmur (Ssrimps marinated in Bengali garam masala, coriander, cheese, and coated with cornflakes, fried and served with chatpata mayo) and the super delicious Mochar Croquette (traditionally known as mochar chop (plantain flower coated in panko crumbs, fried and served with pudina mayo).
Coming to the seafood appetizers, the restaurant has come up with exquisite food items like Gondhoraj Malai FishTikka (Bhetki marinated in curd, malai masala, gondhoraj zest, gel chutney, and served with papad and salad) and Tandoori Baby Bhetki (Baby Kolkata bhetki marinated in curd and laal mirch). The latter is a Lord's special and a must-try when you visit this place! One can also relish the taste of Chili Coriander Tossed Fried Calamari (Crispy fried calamari made with homemade coriander sauce).
The main course is quintessentially Bengali with Prawn Malai Curry (Golda chingri cooked in a creamy curry flavoured with spices, coconut milk, and served with steamed rice), Bhetki Paturi With Steamed Rice (Kolkata bhetki marinated with ground mustard, green chili, mustard oil, poppy seeds, and wrapped in a banana leaf) and Sorshe Ilish (Hilsa marinated in mustard gravy and served with steamed rice).
My favourite pick from the menu—will be Kosha Mangsho with Basanti Pulao and Mochar Croquettes. Bengalis love for sweets is well known, so Rasmalai Panna Cotta (a chef's special) is to provide a gratifying end to your meal. And yes, don’t forget to pick your favourite drink from the bar!
Recently the cast of Ei Ami Renu— Sohini Sarkar, Gaurav Chakrabarty, and Alivia Sarkar glammed up the floor of this gastro-lounge and indulged in the Poila Boishakh menu. Lord of the Drinks is open every day of the week from 12noon to 12 midnight.
