Tourism Ireland has launched a food campaign in Germany in collaboration with barbecue brand MONOLITH Grill and German tour operator Wolters Rundreisen. The initiative, titled “It’s All About Food”, aims to showcase Irish produce and food experiences to German travellers.
The campaign is also supported by outdoor equipment manufacturer ORTLIEB Sportartikel and knife brand Dick Knives.
The programme is led by German chef, journalist, and videographer Olaf Deharde, who travelled along the Wild Atlantic Way during the summer, Tourism Ireland said.
Deharde’s trip included harvesting seaweed in West Cork with Atlantic Sea Kayaking, learning about oysters with Kelly Oysters in Galway, visiting Dingle Distillery, and meeting producers such as Dingle Sheepdogs and Tig Bhric and West Kerry Brewery.
He prepared dishes using locally sourced ingredients on a MONOLITH grill at various scenic locations along the route.
Tourism Ireland mentioned that several videos, along with recipes and food stories, are being shared through its social media channels in Germany, as well as through partner platforms, to reach German audiences.
Nadine Lehmann, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Germany, said: “We are delighted to launch our new food campaign, ‘It’s All About Food’. This initiative is a fantastic way to showcase Ireland’s exceptional local produce, talented producers and the unforgettable culinary experiences awaiting our German visitors.”
In addition, Wolters Rundreisen has launched a new tour package titled “Autoreise Genussvolles Irland” (Road Trip Enjoyable Ireland).
The trip takes travellers from Cork to the Ring of Kerry, the Dingle Peninsula and the Cliffs of Moher, combining sightseeing with culinary experiences such as street food at Cork’s Marina Market, a picnic in the Burren and a visit to Murphy’s Ice Cream.
