Etihad Airways is set to introduce direct flights to Luxembourg, becoming the first airline from the Middle East to operate services to the country. Launching on Oct 29 2026, the new route will also be the only nonstop connection between Luxembourg and Abu Dhabi, linking two key centres in Europe and the Middle East, the airline said.

Etihad will operate the service three times a week, responding to growing demand for direct connectivity from travellers in Luxembourg as well as the wider Benelux region, France, and Germany.

Flights will be operated using Etihad’s Airbus A321LR aircraft. The narrowbody long-range jet is configured with a three-class cabin, including First Suites and lie-flat Business Class seats, all offering direct aisle access.

The aircraft also features next-generation Economy Class seating with increased legroom, 4K touchscreen entertainment systems, Bluetooth connectivity, and high-speed Wi-Fi available throughout the cabin.

According to Etihad, the Luxembourg service is expected to strengthen connectivity for both business and leisure travel while supporting closer economic and cultural links between the European Union and the United Arab Emirates. Luxembourg’s role as a gateway market for neighbouring France, Germany, and Belgium further positions the route as a strategic addition to Etihad’s European network.

Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer at Etihad Airways, said, "We are delighted to announce this landmark route, made possible by the launch of the A321LR last year. For the first time, Luxembourg will be directly connected to the Middle East, with Etihad as the only airline offering a nonstop link to Abu Dhabi.”

“Travellers from Luxembourg can look forward to convenient direct access to Abu Dhabi’s world-class attractions, luxury hotels, and authentic Arabian experiences, while benefiting from seamless onward connections across our global network.”

For business travellers, the route offers direct access between Luxembourg—one of Europe’s key financial centres—and Abu Dhabi. Leisure travellers flying to the UAE capital will gain easier access to major cultural and tourism attractions, including the Zayed National Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Louvre Abu Dhabi, and the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. Yas Island’s entertainment venues, along with Abu Dhabi’s beaches and desert landscapes, are also expected to appeal to European visitors.

Passengers travelling via Abu Dhabi will also be able to connect onward through Zayed International Airport (AUH) to destinations across Etihad’s global network. This includes onward links to countries such as Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, and India.

The new service also opens up direct access for travellers from Abu Dhabi and Etihad’s wider network to Luxembourg. The Grand Duchy is known for its medieval castles, UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town and scenic valleys, combining history with modern European life.
