Lufthansa has launched a new nonstop service between Kuala Lumpur and Frankfurt, with the first flight operating on October 26. The route connects Malaysia’s capital with Frankfurt, one of Europe’s major aviation hubs.
The service initially operates five days a week using a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with 287 seats across three travel classes. The aircraft is equipped with Lufthansa’s new Allegris cabin.
The new route expands Lufthansa’s network in Southeast Asia and gives passengers from Malaysia direct access to Frankfurt, with onward connections to destinations across Europe and other parts of the world.
Frank Naeve, Lufthansa Group Senior Vice President Global Sales, said: “With the launch of our nonstop service between Kuala Lumpur and Frankfurt, we are strengthening the connection between Malaysia and Europe while bringing our latest long-haul aircraft and Allegris travel experience to the market. Our new nonstop service connects these two worlds, making travel between Malaysia and Europe more convenient and providing our customers with an enhanced long-haul travel experience.”
Connecting Kuala Lumpur to destinations worldwide
The Kuala Lumpur–Frankfurt service is scheduled to offer connections through Lufthansa’s Frankfurt hub to destinations across Europe and beyond.
Flight LH705 departs Kuala Lumpur at 11:55 pm and arrives in Frankfurt at 6 am the following day. The return flight, LH704, leaves Frankfurt at 9:30 pm and arrives in Kuala Lumpur at 4:40 pm the next day.
The flight timings are coordinated with Lufthansa’s wider network from Frankfurt, allowing passengers from Malaysia to connect to destinations across Europe, North America and other international markets.
The launch also expands Lufthansa’s Southeast Asian network, which includes Bangkok, Singapore and Phuket. Kuala Lumpur is now the airline’s fourth destination in the region.

Boeing 787-9 introduces Allegris on the new route
Passengers travelling between Kuala Lumpur and Frankfurt will fly on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, featuring Lufthansa’s Allegris cabin. The cabin was introduced to offer more choice and personalisation across all travel classes.
The Boeing 787-9 is among the newer and more fuel-efficient aircraft in Lufthansa’s long-haul fleet.
The introduction of the aircraft and Allegris cabin on the Kuala Lumpur route is part of the airline’s wider expansion of its premium long-haul offering during the Winter 2026 schedule. Lufthansa is also introducing Allegris on several new routes from its Frankfurt and Munich hubs during the winter season.
Boosting tourism and trade ties between Malaysia and Germany
The service is expected to support tourism and business travel between Malaysia and Europe, while providing a direct air link to Germany through Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
Malaysia welcomed 42.2 million visitors in 2025, making it the most visited country in Southeast Asia. Germany is Malaysia’s largest trading partner within the European Union, and more than 700 German companies operate in the country.
Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Malaysia, said: “In line with the Visit Malaysia 2026–2027 campaign, we welcome Lufthansa’s new nonstop service between Kuala Lumpur and Frankfurt, which further enhances Malaysia’s connectivity with Germany and the wider European market. This direct connection provides greater convenience for travellers from Germany and across Europe, while supporting our efforts to attract high-value visitors and showcase Malaysia’s diverse attractions, rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality.”
The new route connects the two markets directly and gives passengers in Malaysia access to Lufthansa’s wider international network through Frankfurt.
