Robin Sharma is one of her favourite authors says Debasmita Nath Ghosh while the mom in her says there is so much to learn from kids, essentially her little son.
Congratulations on the release of 'Hope and Sunshine'. Is this your debut as an author?
Thank you so much. Yes, "Hope and Sunshine" is my first book.
Tell us a little about yourself. What takes up most of your time? When did the writing bug bite you?
Well i have worked with the corporate sector for a few years. Then set up a travel company along with my best friend (now husband) before we got married five years back. Have experimented with numerous projects at work. Thankfully we succeeded and today we are one of the successful companies in eastern India. Besides I am a mother to a two-year old. He was practically one of the reasons how writing happened. My life just revolves around my son Rayaan, he is just phenomenal in every way, there's so much to learn from kids. There's no better feeling than being a mother.
Earlier, in school, we used to have a lot of competitions on writing stories and I used to participate. Also I used to write for the school magazine, convents have a very high standard set for their annual magazines. But I am so glad that this book happened, and happened at a very right time today.
What kind of books do you enjoy reading? Any recent favorites?
Well, to be very honest, I am not a voracious reader, but I have not restricted myself only to books or novels. I just love to read anything, be it a blog, or a newspaper. Earlier Noddy, Nancy Drew, Agatha Christie were my favourites but these days I am more into non fiction. I love reading Robin Sharma's books, they are simply amazing. The last one is a real life changer "Who will cry when you die". I wish i can inculcate all those wonderful things written there.
How has the response and appreciation so far being from your friends and family?
My parents got the shock of their lives when I told them I had written a book, because the type of person I am, I just cannot sit at one place doing one single thing. But it was a very heartwarming moment when my family saw the book for the first time. The response has been so far very good. People have started appreciating my work. My friends have loved the book and as typical friends they are promoting them by posting pictures on social media. A lot of reviews, mostly positive, have come u, which is really very motivating.
Are you writing anything next?
Yes i have started with my book no 2, and hopefully i can launch it in 2019 if things go well.
