Kolkata, Oct 12 (NITN): Kavigurur Shantinir [The Bard (Tagore)’s peace abode] is the theme of the Chaltabagan Durga Puja marking its 76th year here as the organisers of the famous puja of the City of Joy pitches Kolkata to the UNESCO to declare it as City of Literature in league with some other global cities.
“Last year Chaltabagan had invited the leading authors and poets of Bengal to the puja. This year we have kept the Tagore theme because we want UNESCO to declare Kolkata as the first UNESCO designated 'City of Literature' in India for which efforts already begun in many quarters. I personally think, given the literary heritage, diversity and richness, Kolkata is one of the strongest contenders for such recognition by UNESCO,” said Sundeep Bhutoria, Chairman, Chaltabagan Durga Puja Committee.
