Linc takes its annual inter-school spelling contest online, registrations open

Kolkata:  Linc Pen and Plastics Limited, a writing instruments manufacturer, has decided to take their annual inter-school spelling competition for children, online, this year, in the light of the pandemic related restrictions.

Students from standard five to eight are eligible to participate in the 21st edition of the Spellinc contest, registration (free) for which opened on Thursday.

Said Deepak Jalan, Managing Director, Linc Pen and Plastics Limited, “The entire event has gone digital and by introducing a pan-India competition, we hope to reach a larger audience and garner a prolific response from students across the country. It is truly a feeling of fulfilment to be able to continue this legacy of 21 years with the spirit of education and literacy at the core of our vision.”

The competition this year will go beyond just spellings and also focus on grammar, phonology, syntax, semantics and other aspects of the English language, the company said in a release.

With British Council as the knowledge partner, study material will be designed to ensure that students have fun while learning.
Winners will receive cash prizes, Linc hampers and gift bouquets, and additionally, each participant to register will be gifted Linc vouchers.

Interestingly, the competition began as a recreation activity for the employees of the company 1999 and eventually became a part of Linc’s “Encouraging Literacy” campaign.

Now an annual national event, over 1,500 schools across 23 cities of India have participated in the contest in the past two decades, according to the company.
