Abu Dhabi: UAE has banned foreign travel for citizens who have not received three doses of vaccination against Covid19 with effect from Jan 10.

The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA), UAE Saturday said that citizens looking to travel need to be fully vaccinated, which includes a booster shot.

UAE will still allow travel for individuals medically exempt from taking vaccines, humanitarian causes, and people travelling for medical or treatment purposes.

"Ban on Travel on UAE citizens unvaccinated with #Covid19 vaccine, starting Jan 10, 2022, with a requirement to obtain the booster dose for the fully vaccinated. With an exemption for medically exempted from taking the vaccine, humanitarian & treatment cases," said the NCEMA, UAE.

Above 90 percent of the UAE's population has been entirely vaccinated against Covid19, while about 34 percent have received the booster jab as of Dec 24, said Reuters citing Our World in Data.
