Spicejet has also introduced an additional frequency on the Guwahati-Kolkata route in the same programme.
Announcing the new flight route, Sonowal has advocated for an airline hub in the city so that all flights can take off from Guwahati itself.
Disclosing this, the Assam CM said that this will further help in employment generation in the state.
Sonowal also impressed upon the need for better connectivity of the state with the neighbouring countries.
Expressing his desire to turn Guwahati as the most focus centre in the world, the Assam CM said that the government is preparing a roadmap for improving all modes of transportation in the state.
The new flight announcement ceremony was also attended by Assam Industry Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary and CMD Spicejet Ajay Singh and Chief Commercial Officer, Spicejet Debojo Maharshi among others.
With these new flights which will operate on daily basis passengers will have now more options to choose from Silchar and Aizwal being situated amidst difficult terrain will now have better connectivity to the rest of India.
These flights will further contribute to the growth and economic development of Assam and the North East.
