As different specialty star-rating restaurants are throwing lavish spreads for ‘Jamai’ (son-in-law) on the day of Jamai Sasthi (Son-in-law Day) in the emerging culinary hub of the Eastern India, Saptapadi (again named after the iconic 1961 Uttam-Suchitra blockbuster) has come up with Posto Piyaji, Chingri Sabar Upore, Murgi Sabar Upore, Grilled Ilish, Koe Macher Paturi, Kancha Lanka Murgi, for the Bengali sons-in-law – new and old – from June 10 till June 12.
Many of the names bring resonance of the Bengali classics like Chaoa Paoa, Sabar Upore, Sagarika etc all featuring the ever popular matinee idol Uttam Kumar whose face adorns the wall of the place on upscale Hindustan Road.
"There will also be Moori fish stick, Aam Chingri Paturi, Murgi Gota Masala, Echor Dalna, Illish Chao-Pao, Katla Sagarika, for the world-exposed, urban Kolkata Bengali having an eclectic taste and who loves to experiment," chef and one of the owners Ranjan tells IBNS.
For the dessert part there will be Nolen Gurer Caramel Custard, Nolen Gurer Brownie and Patisapta Ice cream fusion – all new innovations by the chefs having decades of experience at multi-star hotels.
“While our décor will remind one of the golden era of Bengali films with the image of Uttam Kumar and Suchitra riding on a bike and integrate with the classic film- there will be no dilution of food ingredients and the taste,” Ranjan says
The whole spread will be on offer from June 10 to 12 from 12 noon to 10:46 pm.
