Mumbai/NITN: Etihad Airways,the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, celebrated the festival of light Diwali by exchanging gifts and sweets this season.
Etihad Airways presented guests with its ‘Share the Light’ Diwali box at the immigration counters, check in counters and arrival area of the Abu Dhabi Airport.
The unconventional festive box, featuring the traditional ‘laddoos’, was designed to light up when the ‘mithai’ was shared.
Diwali, the Indian festival of lights, is widely celebrated across the country and sees millions attend prayers and events during the five-day festival.
Since launching operations to the Indian sub-continent in Sept 2004, Etihad Airways has carried more than 16.5 million passengers on its Indian routes.
The airline operates 159 return flights per week between Abu Dhabi and 10 key Indian gateways - Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram - and through its Abu Dhabi hub.

American Airlines will launch new seasonal service between New York (JFK) and Edinburgh, Scotland (EDI) in March 2026, expanding its international network.
Emirates will celebrate Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, by offering special meals and entertainment on its flights to and from India between Oct 17 and 24, the airline said.
British Airways has announced its plans for network expansion in India as it backed a UK government trade mission to the country, led by Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
