Colombo: Sri Lanka recorded 1,50,000 international travellers last year among which 47,000 arrived within the first 20 days of December, a Sri Lankan Tourism official said.

To increase the tourist arrival's month-on-month growth rate, promotions will be launched worldwide by the island country's Tourism Ministry and the SriLankan Airlines, said Prasanna Ranatunga, Minister of Tourism.

Exhibitions, global conferences, and social media will lead the charge in promotional activities, he said.

The government has also announced plans to declare 2022 as the Visit Sri Lanka year, Business Standard reported.
