Tourism Australia’s largest annual travel trade event, the Australian Tourism Exchange 2022 (ATE22) was successfully held at the International Convention Centre in Sydney between 15 to 18 May with over 1100 delegates comprising international buyers, Aussie tourism product sellers and media.
The 42nd edition of the nation’s premier event was held in partnership with state tourism agency Destination NSW. ATE Online runs from 24 to 26 May to connect those unable to attend the live event.
Tourism Australia Managing Director Phillipa Harrison said after two years of travel restrictions due to the global pandemic it was great to be able to welcome international buyers and sellers back to Australia for ATE.
“Despite the challenges of the last two years, there has never been a better time to visit Australia and there are plenty of new and exciting experiences and products to showcase.
“The relationships and future business opportunities built at ATE22 will help to spearhead the tourism industry’s recovery as we move beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.”, Ms Harrison said.
Minister for Enterprise, Investment and Trade, Minister for Tourism and Sport and Minister for Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said the NSW Government was proud to partner with Tourism Australia to bring ATE22 to Sydney.
Australian sellers at ATE22 included accommodation providers, attractions, food/wine/beverage companies, inbound tour operators, regional tourism organisations, special interest operators, state/territory tourism organisations, tour operators, and transport companies. The participation from India included 42 standard, Luxe and Platinum buyers and ten freelancers, influencers and journalists.
Next year the event will be held on the Gold Coast at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in partnership with Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ).

Saudia, the national flag carrier of Saudi Arabia, and Air India, India’s leading global airline, have signed a codeshare agreement that will take effect in February.
Air India and Saudi Arabia’s flag carrier Saudia will begin a new codeshare partnership from February, allowing both airlines to offer expanded route options and smoother connections for passengers travelling between the two countries.
Etihad Airways is set to introduce direct flights to Luxembourg, becoming the first airline from the Middle East to operate services to the country. Launching on Oct 29 2026, the new route will also be the only nonstop connection between Luxembourg and Abu Dhabi, linking two key centres in Europe and the Middle East, the airline said.
