Goa hosts Kayaking Summer Training Camp in April
02 Apr 2015, 05:31 pm
Panjim, Apr 2 (NITN): With summer holidays round the corner and time to enjoy some adventure and sport, Goa Kayaking Club along with Goa Tourism and Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) has launched another edition of the much loved kayaking training camps.
The training camps are being held at Vasco, Hollant bay from April 1-4, 2015 daily from 7 am. To 11 am and at Vainguinim beach from April 5-8, 2015 daily from 7 am. To 11 am.
The kayaking programs conducted during the last 6 years have proved to be popular and have helped to a very large extent in raising the awareness of the general public in saving and appreciating the fragile environment and the marine/ river eco-system.
The regular exploratory kayaking trips into the mangroves have given an opportunity to people who have lived all their lives here in Goa, but never had a chance to see the wonderful interdependent riverine flora and fauna, at close quarters.
These teaching and training programs are unique and the only opportunity for adults and children of Goa, interested to learn kayaking first hand, instead of the exorbitantly priced courses being conducted in the lower reaches of the north at Rishikesh and the Kulu valley.
The Goa Kayaking Club have engaged the services of an international trainer along with their own personnel to conduct the summer training camps.
Those interested in registering for the training camp can contact Goa Kayaking Club 9422056037/o832 2541715 or e-mail:goakayaking@gmail.com or www.goakayaking.com. Registrations are open from age 8 and above.
The GKC is also conducting Moonlight Kayaking from April 2-6, 2015 at St Jacinto Islands. All trips start at the San Jacinto Island, Sancoale and end at the Cortalim Ferry Jetty, Cortalim. The duration of the trip is 2-3 hours.
Trips start on April 2, 2015 at 7.30 pm,April 3, 2015 at 8.00 pm,April 4, 2015 at 8.30 pm, April 5, 2015 at 9.00 pm and April 6, 2015 at 9.30 pm.
This is an opportunity for Goans and visitors to the state to enjoy something different -a silvery night of quietude on the broad silvered Zuari which is an uplifting and near spiritual experience!
Nilesh Cabral, Chairman of Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) said, “Kayaking in Goa is getting very popular and more and more Goans want to experience the thrills of paddling in a kayak.”
“Because of their range and adaptability kayaks are useful for outdoor activities such as fishing, diving, wilderness explorations, search and rescue. As such we would like to encourage people keen on adventure and water sports to learn Kayaking and enjoy it to the fullest,” Cabral said.
