Australia pops-up at Chengdu Airport in Western China
29 Jul 2015, 09:17 am
Tourism Australia and Sichuan Airlines have launched a pop-up-shop showcasing iconic Australian images and the products of Sichuan Airlines in the Terminal 1 departure hall of Chengdu International Airport in Western China.
The shop also enables Sichuan Airlines staff to sell Australian tour products provided by a Chengdu based ‘Key Distribution Partner’ - a specialist travel agency trained to sell high quality group and independent travel to Chinese travellers.
Tourism Australia Regional General Manager of Greater China Andrew Hogg said, "This new concept store, in partnership with Sichuan Airlines, allows us to promote Australia and all of the great tourism products and locations."
“Sichuan Provence has a population of over 81 million and this presents a great opportunity to selectively market all that Australia has to offer including our great restaurants, unique locations and wonderful attractions," said Hogg.
Sichuan Airlines is one of Tourism Australia’s key partners in Western China and operates three weekly flights between Chengdu and Melbourne and twice weekly between Chongqing and Sydney.
Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is one of most important hub airports in Western China with 37 million international and domestic passengers traveling from the airport to international and domestic destinations in 2014.
