Rotary International District 3291, District Governor Shyamashree Sen organizes Sangbardhan
Kolkata, Nov 21 (NITN): Rotary International District 3291 and District Governor Shyamashree Sen organized a program Sangbardhan to celebrate the UNESCO's World Heritage Day celebrations on Nov 19 at the heritage site of Marble Palace with the presence of Rotarians, Consular representatives, members of INTACH and other NGO's.

District Governor Shyamashree Sen spoke about Rotary's role in spreading awareness about heritage and conservation, she was followed by GM Kapur of INTACH who spoke about his organization's role in preservation of heritage building keeping the traditional style of architecture.

Shuvaprasanna Chairman, West Bengal Government's Heritage Commission reflected on the State Government's policies and measure adopted to preserve the architectural and cultural heritage of Kolkata and Bengal.

The other two speakers of the evening included Dr Anup Motilal and Biswarup Mukherjee who spoke about the historial aspects of heritage of Bengal and Kolkata and the history of GHATS OF BENGAL -- some of Bengal's oldest families were honoured as -- the 800 years old MITRA FAMILY , COSSIMBAZAR MAHARAJA, MAHISHADAL RAJBARI, DUGAR FAMILY OF MURSHIDABAD at the program

The grand finale was a musical presentation on Santoor by Pdt Tarun Bhattacharya
