Gangotri shrine in Garwhal Himalayas closes on Monday for winter recess
Dehra Dun,Oct 31 (NITN): With winter round the corner, the doors of the Gangotri shrine in Garhwal Himalayas in Uttarakhand closed on Monday for six months, according to media reports.

A large crowd had gathered to attend the rites and rituals administered by the priest.
 
The presiding deity, Goddess Ganga, will be worshipped at a temple lower down, in the village of Mukhwa, during the winter recess.
 
Gangotri is part of the circuit called Char Dham in the Garhwal Himalayas. The other three shrines, Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath also close for six months.
 
According to media reports, Yamunotri and Kedarnath shrines will close on Tuesday, Nov 1 while Badrinath will close on Nov 16
