Kolkata: Bengal Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society hosts Health Mela

Kolkata: The Bengal Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society in it's 80th year presented Health Mela on Saturday at the Kund, City Center 1, Salt Lake.

The day-long program was dedicated for the women with a theme "Her Health Our Wealth".

The cause partners were Rotary Club of Calcutta Kankurgachi, Neotia Healthcare, Suraksha and Sananda.

Dr. Shashi Panja, Minister-in-charge Dept of Women& Child Development and Social Welfare, Govt of WB has  inaugurated the event alongwith Rotary District Governor Ajay Agarwal.

The social issue of ‘Saving the Girl Child’ was addressed by a rally and senior health care providers of the city, over the day, will be deliberating on a variety of issues pertaining to women health issues affecting the society.

Several reputed diagnostic centres were roped in to provide complementary and discounted laboratory services, informed the President of Bengal Obstetric and Gynaecological Society ( BOGS) Dr. Dibyendu Banerjee.

Important issues as antenatal care, breastfeeding their babies in the first hour of birth in the "Pregnancy Care in the 21st Century" Forum , reproductive age use birth control as part of ‘Reproductive Health Issues of the Modern Era’ and cervical cancer as part of  ‘Prevention of Cancer in Women’ was discussed and counselling available for the public with special emphasis on women, newlywed couples among others informed BOGS Secretary Dr. M Shamszaman.

Students from Indrani Memorial Girls School, Apollo Nursing College and Charnock Nursing College participated in the Health Mela.
